The Drone Footage That Completely Transformed a Farmer’s Life

Meet Angus McGregor

Angus McGregor is like many farmers…a gruff, older man who prefers walking the land to fiddling with technology. He has always had a closer connection to his crops and his cows than anything else. And because of that, he was very skeptical about his son’s latest gift.

You see, Angus’ son Ian always loved playing around with new technology and tried to get his dad involved. This time around, the younger man had dropped off a sophisticated drone. The older man was unimpressed at first, thinking this was nothing more than a “newfangled contraption” he’d have no use for. However, three weeks after receiving the gift, he decided to start using it, and this led to a startling discovery.

Regular morning surveys

What eventually won Angus McGregor over is that the drone offered a quick way for him to survey his own property. When he was a younger man, the farmer had personally patrolled every single acre. Now, he was older, and it was much easier to simply fly the drone over his property and “see” through its eyes thanks to the viewscreen on the remote.

As the footage rolled in, he felt the usual pride at the sight of his property, a farm that had been part of the family for generations. But he also noticed something else: some of the fences on the outer edge of his property had been damaged. This, combined with his recent worry that someone was watching him, made McGregor conclude that he needed to use this drone to investigate what was really going on.

The sight of a mysterious shape

Previously, Angus McGregor had only flown the drone over his property in the morning, allowing him to get the best view of his farm thanks to the sunlight. However, it was obvious that whatever was damaging his property came out only at night. And after calling his son to ask, he was able to adjust a few settings and turn on the drone’s night vision camera.

After that, he just had to put on some coffee and fly the drone above his farm in the evening with the night vision enabled. Deep down, he enjoyed the experience because it reminded him of patrol drills back in the military. Eventually, his patrol yielded results, as he saw a mysterious figure on his property. Moreover, she was doing something with one of his cows! Eager to stay safe while getting to the bottom of this, McGregor flew the drone back home.

Getting a closer look

At this point, Angus McGregor was heavily invested in this mystery. He had sighted a strange figure on his property in the dead of night, and it was a fair bet that this figure was behind the damage to the fences. But he still needed to figure out who this person was and, most importantly, what they had been doing with his cow.

Once he reviewed the footage, the farmer had more questions than answers. After tweaking a few settings on the footage (which required texting his son…fortunately, Ian was a major night owl), he discovered that the mysterious figure was actually his neighbor, Moira. And what she was doing was putting a hedgehog on his favorite cow!

He went out immediately and began tending to the cow, pulling out some painful quills that had become embedded into her flesh. Once she was better, he went over to his neighbor’s home. No matter how late the hour was, it was time to end this weirdness once and for all.

All’s well that ends well

Angus McGregor’s neighbor, Moira, opened her front door soon after he knocked. “Still awake?” he asked. “Messing with my cows can be very tiring work!” At first, she feigned ignorance, but he showed her the drone footage on his phone. Her face was clearly visible, and there was no denying that she was harming his livestock in the recording.

At this point, Moira broke down and apologized. She explained that McGregor’s sheep had gotten out recently and messed up her prize-winning roses, and she was so mad that she wanted revenge. McGregor, surprising himself with his own patience, told her that she was forgiven and that he wouldn’t be pressing charges.

He did have one condition for their relationship as neighbors. “Next time, let’s find a better way to talk things out!” She agreed, and the two have been fast friends ever since.
